In 2004, we started to develop a new battery technology with the goal of improving battery run time and increasing battery safety. The result of this work is SaFPWR - a revolutionary smart battery technology that improves battery run times and increases the safety of the battery as a power source.

SaFPWR is a system of embedded circuits, sensors, software and firmware. This system communicates with the electronic device it is powering, monitors the environment it is in, and remembers the individual usage patterns of the individual using the device. The system collects this information, learns from it and ultimately fine-tunes its performance over time. This system makes it possible to charge and discharge batteries in a unique and novel way. As a result, this battery is able to store more energy than comparable batteries and then discharge the power stored in an optimal manner. In short, the SaFPWR system produces more run time per milliamp hour than comparable batteries of the same size and shape.

SaFPWR was initially offered in an external battery for a laptop computer; the SaFPWR E1. As chipsets became smaller, the size of the device this exciting technology could be integrated into got smaller. The system now has application as a primary battery for the laptop battery market. The technology is also available as an external battery pack for iPhone, iPod and BlackBerry. Our vision is with smaller chipsets, we will be able to place our smart battery into the device so the case will be necessary only for protection.

In the meantime, we have started to modify our technology so that it has application in larger battery configurations to help the planet go Green. To this end, we are developing applications for Hybrid Vehicles, Electric Vehicles, Wind Farms, and Solar Farms. This work is very exciting. We believe we can improve the battery performance in these applications and make the use of these Green energy technologies cost effective and safe for the consumer.
